1942. A world at war. A woman left behind. Inspired by letters written by Isabel McMeniman to her husband Nicholas D’Angelo, Yours, Isabel tells the story of World War II from the perspective of one young woman left at home. Isabel is a feisty, independent minded young woman who finds herself falling in love with a young soldier, Nick. Society and Nick seem to want Isabel to be one thing, while Isabel herself cries out for something different. But when Nick goes to war, what will Isabel decide?

I would have paid gold!

This was an extraordinary and wonderful performance. I sat squashed into a very comfortable padded seat in a full theatre. The set a black backdrop and those three square dark grey cubes used as props; the costumes simple too with Nick taking a jacket or hat off to become a different persona. Their voices strong and Isabel's red lipstick and blue dress, and her hair, oh her hair!! The simplicity of the set and costumes meant that the acting shone out, with no distractions. Brilliant! I loved it all, and was touched by the story ... which could be of any of our lives today. Although I went because Nick was giving out free tickets, I would have paid gold to see this wonderful production. Thank you Christy Hall and Matt Lutz and all who made it possible.

This is an excellent show. The story kept me gripped; it was original and not at all sentimental, considering its subject matter. The acting was extremely impressive. Despite both actors playing several parts, every character was believable and 3 dimensional. They are both very skilled actors. Watching them transform into different characters at such a fast pace was highly engaging. When you see this show (which YOU DEFINITELY SHOULD!), you will be watching two actors at the top of their game. The writing was brilliant. All in all, a great show by two gifted actors. I loved it and have recommended it to friends.

i thought the show was well performed and entertaining. I had feared it might be tright and sentimental, but In fact the treatment of the young couple is far from cliched. In the end, as they were forced to face the disconnection between what each of them wanted and expected of their marriage, i was surprisingly moved. surprisingly moving.

Best theatre here

This is an absolutely phenomenal show - there are not enough superlatives to do it justice! Christy Hall's writing is sparse, believable and conveys the difficulties of the two characters incredibly well. Matt Lutz is a very skilled actor, switching seamlessly from one character to the next - his entire body changes and he becomes a completely different person; it's excellent. The story itself is a beautiful, hopeful one which genuinely leaves you wishing this show was twice the length it is because you want to know how these two characters progress. It was very moving - the best theatre I have seen at the Fringe, and in fact one of the best plays I have ever seen. That these tickets are just £5 makes it absolutely unmissable - they deserve to sell out their unr until their last performance (29th)

Simply Unmissable

Written and performed by Christy Hall as Isobel, this show soars to emotional heights and warms with moments of quiet intimacy. Isobel is a twenty-first century woman trapped in the 1940's, desperate to do something to help her lover, Nick, who is posted overseas. These are two outstanding performances; the actors, quite simply, act their socks off. Although the costumes do not change the actors convincingly play multiple characters; Lutz in particular is fantastic as not only Nick but an elderly priest, Isobel's father and (hilariously), Isobel's best friend Julie. The lighting design is beautiful and the setting of the Vault compresses this play which should really be in a larger venue. This show deserves to be selling out nightly. New writing of this quality is what the Fringe is all about.

OUTSTANDING!

Where to start? Can I firstly say that this is an absolute MUST-SEE show. Matt and his wife Christy give heart-warming performances throughout the show. It is set in deep America and explores the tough choices that Isobel is forced to make whilst she is alone waiting for her beloved husband to return to her. She struggles against the society around her, and the wishes of her husband which, so often, conflict with her own. Both actors play multiple roles with ease and aplomb. If the original Isobel and Nick were to see this show, I have no doubt they would be proud that two such fantastic actors are representing their story, and most especially, the understanding that Christy shows in both her writing, and her portrayal. The fact that Matt Lutz who plays 'Nick' was outside Paradise Augstine's this afternoon, trying to plug this show, is a tragedy. I am surprised that the show is not sold-out from now until the end of their run (29th)!! DO NOT MISS THIS!!!
